As your transformative executive coach throughout the process, I’ll gently raise your conscious awareness of what really goes on inside your head, giving you greater power and control over mind, your performance and yourself.

People perform to their best with minimal mental interference because, when they aren’t thinking, the are just doing. Meet Michelle Chapman

Hi there. I am Michelle Chapman, and I'm an Executive and Performance Coach , a Certified Coach Trainer, a Trainer and Master Practitioner of Neurolinguistic Programming, a Master Hypnotist and Instructor of Hypnosis, a Trainer of Time Line TherapyTM and a qualified Medical Intuitive with a BA in Business and a few other weird things I generally don't include on my CV.
I started out in marketing, working for a number of blue-chip businesses before being drawn to the world of mental, emotional and spiritual growth. I began with an NLP training company and was the first English-speaking NLP Trainer in Hong Kong in 2007.
I now train and coach for numerous corporate and private clients, as well as being Trainer and heading up the coaching team on The Warrior Programme, a veterans mental health charity that's very close to my heart, having trained over 1000 veterans, serving personnel and family members.
I live in rural Essex (where Upper Barns is located) with my husband, children, dogs and cat, and when not coaching or training, I am most often found on the vegetable patch covered in mud.

How would I know if stress is affecting my performance at work?
These are all signs that stress may be affecting your decision-making and judgment, as well as your health. Such as:
You find yourself running possible scenarios too many times, and sometimes in the middle of the night. In some ways it helps predict and avoid problems, but you suspect the cycle is running to excess.
You experience high levels of work-related stress due to constant pressure, long hours, and frequent decision-making. You know you are good at what you do, but you don’t always ‘feel’ it and lately you have been second guessing yourself.
You are normally sharp and determined, but you don’t feel at your best right now. You feel tired, burnt out, irritable and not really happy or on your game.
You only have a few people you trust to do a good job, so end up doing more yourself than you ought to. But you feel it’s better to do things yourself and know they are right.
You get frustrated or irritated with people who think differently than you. You want to be more patient but taking time to discussing opinions feels like a waste of valuable time and energy that you can’t afford right now.
In a way your stress is justified, after all, you have a lot of responsibility and there’s a lot at stake. But on some level you also know your self-esteem will take a hit if you fail, and that adds a pressure you don’t need.
You notice your stress levels rise when change is afoot. You worry about the lack of security, and the consequence of what might happen if you deliver a poor presentation or don’t deliver on a project, play on your mind.
You hate to admit it but you don’t always feel comfortable being truly yourself, because you’re kind of afraid of people seeing who we are underneath the façade and it’s important you are respected and well thought of.
You may be searching … for deeper meaning in what you are doing. For a sense of purpose. Or the opposite may be true – you want to carry on hiding and the idea of doing this programme sounds like torture! (It won’t be though, I promise.)
You may be ignoring underlying fears about the impact of stress on your health. How long this has been going on will largely determine how willing you are to address the impact on your body.
I believe my stress affects my home-life, but I'm not sure I want to discuss it.
Something often left unspoken is the impact of stress on your home life. Intimate relationships are often the first to feel the strain when pressures overspill beyond the boundaries of work.
What starts as a lack of time and patience for those you care about can escalate to short-temperedness or emotional detachment when everything feels too much to handle.
If you have children, the last thing you want is for them to be affected, especially when you work so hard to provide for them, but sometimes there just isn’t anything left in the tank to deal with them as well.
But the more you can rise above stress and anxiety, the more naturally you will be able to handle the challenges inevitable in your line of work. And then, this sense of ease will too overspill, changing the way you think about and interact with those you love.
We thrive at work when we see where it fits in the greater scheme of things, so it’s absolutely appropriate to allow this programme to bring greater ease and to shine on your home life too. However, if you don't wish to speak openly about your personal life, that's fine too. Either way you are free to bring yourself differently to every area of your life.
I think I may be suffering from burnout - will this programme help with that?
Sometimes we find ourselves on a path that feels un-ending and treacherous. We tell ourselves it won't be for much longer, or that we need to keep going 'a little further' and everything will be ok.
If you don’t find some relief, you may reach a point where you feel like you just can’t face the world, whilst at the same time knowing that you have to.
This is when you know you are getting close to, or maybe even beyond, your healthy limits. Especially if you feel overwhelmed, overloaded and exhausted, and the rest you do get doesn’t seem enough to fully renew you.
Unfortunately you may have learned to ignore the signs and symptoms that let you know you are pushing yourself too far physically, mentally and emotionally.
The thing is, when we burnout, it doesn't just impact on our health, it also takes it's toll on our performance too. The mind will feel cloudy, we are overly-sensitive to things that go wrong, fear-driven and the things you ought to make you feel happy, or find some enjoyment in, just don’t seem to hit the mark.
If your mind doesn’t feel like it’s working quite right, especially if you are self-soothing in some way, you need a fresh approach but fear not - you may not have to quit your job, move to the country and get chickens and an allotment.
This programme isn't a magic 'cure' but it will bring you the clarity and support that will help you make some crucial changes to the way you live and innoculate you against going back to old ways.
Seeing afresh, or a shift in consciousness will present new options, new ways of being and new ways to perform at a high level will less efforting, easier results and more peace of mind.
How does the motivational mapping work? And how does this fit into the process?
Understanding what really drives us and why we feel the way we do can be a confusing process, because so many of our thoughts are outside our conscious awareness.
Motivational Mapping is an ISO-accredited self-perception assessment process that begins with an online questionnaire and identifies what motivates you across nine key factors, spanning the personal and the professional.
You will then meet online with a licensed practitioner to look at the findings and discuss how you can better meet your motivators to make you happier, both at work and in your life as a whole.
This information will feed into your coaching residential, along with any 360 degree feedback obtained, to get more clarity around your coaching outcomes.

Preparation
To get the most out of your intensive, we will tailor this to you as much as is helpful. We’ll start with a zoom call to get clear about your biggest opportunities and the focus of your programme. You will then have access to the Elite Academy of Development and Wellbeing resource library so you can begin exploring as soon as you wish.


Arrival
You will arrive at Upper Barns on Tuesday evening and check in to your private suite. Upper Barns is located in rural North Essex, within easy access from London.
Your private area is located along a separate and secluded wing at Upper Barns and includes:
Kingsize bedroom with en-suite shower room
Private lounge including TV with access to our online Academy meditations and resources.
Private kitchen for you to cater for yourself (Or we can recommend places to eat out in a short driving distance if you prefer.)
Everything you need to press pause and immerse yourself in the programme.


During
As much as it's lovely to get some space, this programme is really about the exploration that takes place in the coaching sessions. There will be three sessions held each day for the first two days, with a final session on your final morning. The sessions follow the themes below:

During
In between sessions, you have time to reflect, read, rest, renew, recharge and regenerate.
In your lounge you will have access to recordings and meditations via our Elite Academy of Development and Wellbeing site.
This is a rural area and here are plenty of countryside walks to go on, or you can sit in the gardens of Upper Barns.
We strenuously recommend you do NOT bring work with you, because your work will benefit from having you take a step back. Trust us on this one!
On Friday, head home at your leisure after your morning coaching session, ready to fully apply everything you have discovered.

Afterwards
Integration and application is fundamental in ensuring you maximise the long term impact of this residential. We will meet for four further coaching sessions by zoom to explore:
What has changed since the residential, and what you see differently.
What further implications this may have: Can you apply this to areas you are not currently noticing? What blind spots can we bring to light?
What challenges this is posing for you and what will help you to move beyond this.
How you can deepen this understanding in the weeks that follow.
